The Cat Plan, Bird Plan, Dog Plan and Horse Plan:
The Cat Plan, Bird Plan, Dog Plan and Horse Plan:
These four plans refer to pets bequeathed to The Paw and Feather Plan via a will, or entrusted to us via a legal pet trust.
You, your trusted estate planning attorney and/or team of advisers are the primary creators of your pet's plan.
The 4 plans below offer a concise overview of what your plan could look like with The PAFP as your pet's designated caregiver.
Other services we offer are listed below these 4 primary plans.
With the bird plan I will go to your home to get or stay with your bird within 24 hours' notice (of the death or emergency).
Your bird will be integrated into his or her foster home, where he or she will stay until adopted into a permanent, vetted, loving home.
There's a strict screening and educational process for bird adopters in particular since most people have no experience with bird ownership.
There's a chance your bird's foster parent will choose to adopt your bird him/herself.
If you have multiple birds and prefer they remain in your home, that can be arranged.
*With the 'pet plans' there's a variable cost depending on age of pet(s), location, and your long term vision for your pet(s).
The Horse Plan
The Horse Plan
With the horse plan, things will go quite differently than with the other plans, as horses are quite different animals!
-Even transporting a horse can be quite an undertaking.
So for this, I am so grateful to have the help of at least 4 amazing horsewomen for the needs of our horse owners.
2 are in Ky. with expansive properties, which home other horses, barns and stalls. And the other 2 are in Florida with expansive properties that also have nice barns and stalls.
Should you want your horses to stay on your property with a caregiver living there, that can be arranged.
Also, my cousin is a collegiate equestrian rider and horse owner (New Hampshire).
-We have a small, yet awesome, network of horsewomen!
The Dog Plan
With the dog plan I will go to your home to get your dog within 24 hours' notice (of the death or emergency).
Your dog will be integrated into his or her foster home, where he or she will stay until adopted into a permanent, vetted, loving home.
There's a chance your dog's foster parent will choose to adopt your dog him or herself.
If you're a dog owner using the PAFP you're in luck, as I have the most experience fostering dogs over the past 15 years (we foster an average of 1 dog/month and average length of stay is 2 weeks).
Want a permanent, designated caregiver for your dog(s)? -We can do that too.
The Cat Plan
The Cat Plan
With The Cat Plan I will go to your home to get your cat within 24 hours' notice (of death or emergency).
Your cat will be integrated into his or her foster home, where he or she will stay until adopted into a permanent, vetted, loving home.
There's a chance your cat's foster parent will choose to adopt your cat him/herself.
If you have multiple cats and prefer they remain in your home, we can arrange for that.
Need to assign a permanent live in caregiver for your cats? -We can do that.
-Need to list a rescue as a trustee or partial trustee for a pet trust? -You're still in the right place.
The Bird Plan
The Bird Plan
The Last Straw Plan
The Last Straw Plan
This plan offers owners assistance to keep their pets via: counseling services, basic training, tips and resources.
This service is typically FREE since these folks aren't in a position to pay for services.
For example, when we receive donated dog food, we donate what we can of that food to low income or homeless dog owners right here in our community.

Pet Re-Homing Service
Pet Re-Homing Service
Re-homing a pet should be reserved as a last option since it's a traumatic adjustment for the pet and owner.
That being said, sometimes a pet is better off with a new owner.
Some people aren't capable mentally, emotionally and/or physically, of caring for a pet.
In these instances The Paw and Feather Plan can help responsibly re-home a pet.
Cost is dependent on many variable issues but is oftentimes free. -I receive emails and calls daily from people wishing to surrender their pets; we cannot say yes to everyone that reaches out.
Temporary Boarding
Temporary Boarding
The Paw and Feather Plan family occasionally boards pets for owners going through major life transitions (or just on vacation!) based on availability.
We have foster parents and pet boarding families in a few states throughout the U.S., and even in Brazil and Colombia.
Typical cost for boarding is $25-$40/night.
